Do you want to travel for free and brag to the world about it?

 

Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa and Getaway have once again teamed up to offer one lucky winner the opportunity to travel and brag! The winner will spend an action-packed long weekend in Soweto and experience the best of Fair Trade Tourism together with some exciting new initiatives by So We Too. This is a whole new approach to township tourism, where you will get down and dirty and meet the real people in one of South Africa’s most vibrant townships!   You’ll be picked up from Joburg (Park Station), and all activities, meals and transfers are included. All you need to do in return is to blog about your experiences on Getaway.com (and who wouldn’t want to brag to the world about an experience like this!)

ITINERARY

Fri 12 October:

You will be picked up from Park Station around midday and taken straight to your first adventure: Quad Biking!

Next up is an historical tour and a drink (or two) at a shebeen.

After check-in and some freshening up at Soweto Hotel, it’s time for dinner at Roots Restaurant.

 

Sat 13 October:

After breakfast you will meet the people of Kliptown, and visit the local markets

The onto a bit of a surprise: a bird watching tour!

Next, you will transfer to your home for the night: Lebo’s Soweto Backpackers

 

Sun 14 October:

Today, you will go on a half-day cycling tour with Soweto Bicycle Tours of Orlando West where you will meet the locals and also visit some of the historical sights.

    Outdoors, culture and being exposed to different people would make me an brilliant winner for this competition. Currently a 3 rd Student at the University of Western Cape and never experienced Soweto before I feel this is my oppertunity. Had a boyfriend of Soweto in my lifetime by the name of “Anthony Malatsy”, Would be great to feel the vibe of the hometown of this exboyfriend. Furthermore taking photos is my passion and Taking pics at this Fair Trade event is Soweto will make my promote the vent to my 100′s of friends on campus, globally on Facebook and my homies in Cape Town. Choose me!! as I am from a Township myself in Bishop Lavis, Township friends will see the pictures and then they will be inspired to uplift their lives.. IF I COULD DO IT,,,, THEY CAN DO IT.. MAY THE SPIRIT OF UBUNTU LIVE ON..THROUGH ME WINNING THIS COMPETITION…MWAHHHHHHHHHHHH
